34 HCHS students participated in the Buddies to Youth Program for the 2023-24 school year, providing mentorship to 49 elementary-aged students. Buddies to Youth is a mentoring program sponsored by the Family Resource Youth Service Center, which matches HCHS seniors with elementary students in need of a positive role model. As a Big Buddy, the senior has made a commitment to visit their buddy at his or her school on a weekly basis from assignment date until Spring Break. A Big Buddy may be asked to help a Little Buddy with reading, math, or other homework or just spend quality one-on-one time together. To participate in Buddies to Youth, you must be a senior and in good academic standing in each class, as well as be of good character.
