The Harrison County Fillies fast-pitch softball team got its regular season underway last week as they seek to repeat as both the 37th District and 10th Region champions.
The Fillies return virtually their entire team from last season. Last week, the Fillies won at Campbell County in their season opener, then swept a double-header against Robertson County, also on the road.
Over the weekend, Harrison County went on the road and played Assumption High School and Daviess County High School, both at Assumption, in Louisville.

The Harrison County Fillies opened their 2024 season with a 5-2 victory on the road over the Campbell County Lady Camels on Wednesday.
Harrison County got on the board in the first inning when Savannah White hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
The Fillies added one run in the third when Emma Hamm doubled, making the score 2-0.
Bella Persinger picked up the win for the Fillies. Persinger gave up three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking none. With the win, Persinger a sophomore became the all time winningest pitcher in school history. Shyanne Ross pitched the final two innings in relief for Harrison County allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three.
Marissa Taylor led the way with two runs batted in for the Fillies. Hamm went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles to lead Harrison County in hits. Ross, Persinger and Trista Ritchie also had hits for the Fillies.
Harrison County showed good patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Harrison County also collected four stolen bases for the game.
The Fillies were sure- handed and didn’t commit a single error. White made the most plays with 13.
The Harrison County JV defeated the Campbell County JV 16-1.

18 Robertson County 0 (3 innings) Game 1
The Harrison County Fillies improved to 2-0 on the year with an 18-0 victory over Robertson County on the road Thursday in Game 1 of the Doubleheader.
Bella Persinger pitched a perfect game in the circle. Persinger went 3 innings striking out all 9 batters she faced.
Addison Roe led the Fillies with 2 hits. Roe and Madison Delong both had 2 RBI’s to lead the Fillies. Delong, Emma Hamm, Bella Persinger, Trista Ritchie, Aleigha Newby and Baylee Hudgins also had hits for the Fillies.

18 Robertson County 0 (3 innings) Game 2
The Harrison County Fillies improved to 3-0 on the year with an 18-0 victory over Robertson County on the road Thursday in Game 2 of the Doubleheader.
Shyanne Ross pitched a one hitter in the circle. Ross went 3 innings allowing one infield hit while striking out 8.
Lauren Hicks led the Fillies with 2 hits. Addison Roe led the Fillies with 4 RBI’s while Hayden Lunsdord added 3 RBI’s. In addition to Hicks, Roe and Lunsford, Allison Dye, Kira Persinger, Madison Delong and Lauren Highlander also had hits for the Fillies.
Assumption 9
Harrison County 5
The Harrison County Fillies fell to the Assumption Rockets 9-5 on Saturday.
A double by Emma Hamm put Harrison County on the board in the top of the third at 1-0, but that lead was short lived. Assumption jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third with 4 runs taking a 4-1 lead after 3 innings.
Trista Ritchie hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth for the Harrison County to cut the lead to 4-2.
Shyanne Ross added a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the Harrison County to narrow the gap to 4-3.
But, that was as close as the Fillies would get as Assumption added 4 runs in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning to take a 9-3 lead.
Marissa Taylor added the Fillies third home run of the day, a solo shot to centerfield to make the score 9-4. Ross then picked up her second RBI to make the final score 9-5.
The Fillies were led at the plate by Ross and Taylor with two hits each while Hamm and Ritchie added one hit each.
Persinger took the loss in the circle for the Fillies going 4 1/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 7 earned runs while striking out six. Ross went 1 2/3 innings allowing 0 earned runs while striking out two. The loss drops the Fillies to 3-1 on the year.
Daviess County 8 Harrison County 4
The Daviess County Lady Panthers defeated the Harrison County Fillies 8-4 despite Harrison County outhitting Daviess County 13-12.
Harrison County Varsity Fillies opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to a two out single from Owyn McCoy to take a 1-0 lead. After a walk, Allison Dye delivered a two run single to put the Fillies up 3-0.
Daviess County scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 3-2 after three innings.
Harrison County added their final run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Baylee Hudgins doubled with one out. Hayden Lunsford was a courtesy runner for Hudgins and Lunsford advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Emma Hamm then singled deep in the hole at Shortstop scoring Lunsford and giving the Fillies a 4-2 lead.
Daviess County rounded out the scoring by adding one run in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and a single run in the sixth.
Shyanne Ross took the loss for Harrison County in the circle. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up seven runs on 10 hits while striking out three. Bella Persinger pitched one inning in relief allowing two hits and one earned run.
Allison Dye led Fillies with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Ross, Savannah White, Hamm, and Hudgins each collected two hits for Harrison County. McCoy and Marissa Taylor each added one hit. Harrison County turned one double play in the game. Harrison County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Taylor had the most chances in the field with eight.
