  • Thorobreds lose home battle with...

The Harrison County Thorobreds lost their third straight game Friday night when they dropped a closely contested game with the Cooper Jaguars, 55-51.
The game played on the Hilltop was a rematch of a Dec. 18 game at Mason County where the Breds won by a 54-42 margin.
Cooper was playing without freshman guard Sean McNeil, who was out with an injury, but Sean’s older brother senior Zach picked up the slack as he poured in a game high 23 points to lead the Jaguars.

  • Fillies get back on track with...

The Jan. 30 loss to Nicholas County by a 54-47 count seemed like a distant memory Saturday when the Fillies took the floor in Vanceburg to face the Lewis County Lady Lions.
Lewis County had won three of their last four games and featured two of the 16th Region’s better players in 6-foot-2-inch Savannah Anderson and junior guard Emily Frye.
The Fillies, according to Coach Kim Furnish, were coming off some good practices and were ready to play.

  • Bowling teams finish second in...

Saturday, Jan, 4, was an exciting bowling day for both the Harrison County Fillies bowlers and the Thorobreds bowling team.
They traveled to Erlanger to compete in a 15-team tournament with some of the top teams in northern Kentucky as well as local teams.
Both the Fillies and the Breds qualified in second place with the Fillies missing first by one pin.
The Breds missed first place by only 25 pins so both teams were close to the top as the competition began for the tournament championship.

  • Wrestlers take four of five at...

The Harrison County Thorobreds wrestling team showed great improvement Saturday as they participated in the Simon Kenton Duals.
This always-tough meet saw the Breds take matches from Anderson County, Badin, Ohio, Male and Central of Louisville while losing to Top 10 team Henry Clay.
The Blue Devils feature eight seniors of the 14 wrestlers giving them quite an advantage over most competitors.

  • A perfect situation (in my mind)

I am writing this on my 65th birthday so keep in mind that when one gets older he could forget things, add to things and outright dream them up.
If you are one of the elderly, you may or may not recognize these problems but you might ask some who are around you.  Patti’s birthday is tomorrow but she is not even close to my age as she was a child bride.
The perfect situation that I would like to address is the lack of intramural basketball played in the Harrison County Middle School.

  • Breds lose overtime battle with...

The Republic Bank Classic did not do much for Harrison County’s won-loss record as the Thorobreds lost three of the four games they played in the event.
However, the Breds learned a lot about who they are and how far they can go as the Harrison County boys played almost well enough to win all four games.
They opened with the five-point loss to the host and eventual winner Lexington Catholic before defeating nine-game winner Clinton County.
