    LVC to organize co-ed
    basketball team

Right here in the middle of the coldest winter in a long, long time, the college on the hill has put together a co-ed basketball opportunity for both the men and women students. The teams, called the Hilltop Blues, One and Two,  will play a intramural schedule at the city hall gym in Cynthiana.

  • Harrison County double winners...

The Harrison County Fillies and Thorobreds won both ends of the girl/boy doubleheader over Bourbon County Friday night in dramatically different ways.
About the only similarity to the two games, other than the victories, was that both Harrison County squads trailed at the half.
The Thorobreds had the first game in the doubleheader, which could have accounted for some of the sluggish play.

  • Slow start dooms Fillies in 54-...

The Harrison County Fillies traveled to Rowan County Monday night to face Boyd County in the Holbrook Drug/ Martin Luther King Classic.
The Fillies were able to win the final three quarters in the closely contested game but a slow first quarter pushed them to a 54-49 defeat at the hands of the Lady Lions.
The slow start was predominantly on defense as the Boyd County girls made 70 percent from the field in the first quarter shooting a great number of lay ups.

  • Breds battle to win at Nicholas...

In a game that was a make up of the make up game which was to be played on Dec. 6, the Harrison County Thorobreds won their second game in this week, 52-37, over the Nicholas County Bluejackets.
It was a grind-out affair with both teams working hard for whatever baskets that might come their way on Thursday night.
After starting slow, the Thorobreds battled back and forth exchanging baskets with the Bluejackets.

  • Close finishes and officiating...

The Thorobreds’ game with Bourbon County brings to mind some other close ones and how we can help the officials to get it right.
There are two opinions on the call Friday night and I will not say what I think it was because it really doesn’t make any difference.
If you are unfamiliar with which “call” I am referring to, let me be clear. Harrison County’s Dillon Pulliam attempted a field goal with the score tied at 45 with about two seconds left in the game.

    Wrestlers edged by five points
    in Borderline Duals
“If we could have just changed the results of one match we would have won,” were the comments of Coach Luke Tucker following the Wednesday match between Harrison County and neighboring nemesis Bourbon County held in Paris.
The Thorobreds finished second to the Colonels in a large competition earlier this season and fell to them by five points on Wednesday.

  • Thorobreds handle Cardinals 50-...

If you would have told Coach Larry Kendall that his Thorobreds were going to make 15 points in the second half against George Rogers Clark Tuesday night he probably would not have liked his chances.
Both teams made 15 points each in the second half as the Thorobreds used a superlative second quarter to beat the Cardinals in Winchester 50-37 to improve to 7-9 for the season.
“We will take the win,” said the second-year coach after the game. “We played really well in the second period; about as well as we have played all year.”
