  • The National Football League...

I realize that football is not on some people’s radar yet but to some it never goes away and the season will be here before we know it. High school sports are finished for the season and due to the nature of high school sports I am not really free to write what I want to so football it is.

The Harrison County Fillies finished the 2018 fast pitch season with a win over Scott High on Sunday and a loss to Bourbon County on Monday.  The game on Sunday was dictated by the host school Pendleton County’s Tuesday graduation as well as many of the schools that were playing in the tournament still being in school this week.

The Harrison County Thorobreds dropped the finals of the 38th District on Wednesday and followed that up with an opening-round loss in the Tenth Region Tournament, Monday, to finish the season with a 17-16 record.
The District loss was probably the most disturbing as an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh gave Nicholas County a 2-1 win and the 38th District Championship for the second consecutive year.  The Bluejackets scored without a base hit in the inning.

  • There is always a chance

I was searching for a topic for my column on Monday and while lunching at Biancke’s picked up some ideas that made sense to me.  The topics are unrelated but I thought interesting enough for me to write about.
One topic came from overhearing a conversation and one idea was directly suggested to me.
Both the NBA and the NHL playoffs are in full swing and I have the same little interest in each though if someone invited me to a National Hockey League game, I would probably attend. I can not say the same thing about the National Basketball Association.
