  • 5th Jungle Golf Tournament this...

The annual member/guest golf tournament at the Cynthiana Country Club has been held for years with the name being changed to the Jungle in 2009.
This was a result of the untimely death of one of the most outstanding people in the area, Jim Letcher, who was a key leader in the Cynthiana Country Club, the Cynthiana Lions Club, the Cynthiana Christian Church and much more.

  • 45th annual Burley Belles looks...

Although there is still more than two weeks before the event, the 45th annual Burley Belles field promises to be one of the best in some time.
This year was scheduled to be the 46th annual, but last year’s rain caused the cancellation of the event and since “not one ball was struck” this will be the 45th Burley Belles outing.
The tournament begins with practice rounds on Thursday, July 24, with the competition starting early on Friday, July 25, and concluding on Saturday.

  • Who are the real heroes?

This July 4th was the 75th Anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s famous “Luckiest Man” speech given at Yankee Stadium two weeks after he retired from baseball.
The disease, known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, which is actually amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) had made it so he could no longer play. He was thanking the fans for their support through his career and with the disease which would soon take his life.
The speech was replayed many times over last weekend and the designation of hero was placed on the late Yankee first baseman.
