  • Bluebirds fly over Thorobreds 46...

Homecoming Queen Whitney Gray and Homecoming King Alex Kinsey witnessed a rare occurrence Friday night when the Harrison County Thorobreds faced the Ft. Thomas Highlands Bluebirds.
That was when the Thorobreds took the lead 7-6 with just under seven minutes to play in the first period.
The Thorobreds had not led the Bluebirds in many years but an 83-yard pass play from Mark Taylor to Jovon Williams gave Harrison County the lead.

  • Fillies battle at George Rogers...

The 13-3 George Rogers Clark Lady Cards knew they had been in a battle when the Harrison County bus pulled out of Winchester last Wednesday night.
The Fillies battled one of the top-rated teams in the region to a 2-0 match where Harrison County had the Lady Cards goal keeper under fire for most of the night.
The two teams played back-and-forth soccer with a large portion of the discourse on the Fillies defensive end for the biggest part of the first half.

  • Being a sports fan is so much fun

It is Sunday night and I am finishing up the part of the paper I am writing this week, but I can hardly concentrate.
New England and the Bengals are playing football and the Angels and the Royals are playing baseball. I have to keep checking the scores.
Riley and Ian went to the Boys of Fall baseball practice this afternoon and Hayden went to the football team’s film session tonight.
If CeCe is not doing some sort of cheerleading acrobatics she is thinking about one so my life is full of sports.

  • Eighth grade Colts lose a close...

The Harrison County Middle School eighth grade Colts came within three seconds of winning on Eighth Grade Night, but a 10-yard pass play by McNabb’s quarterback put the Indians on top 30-26 Thursday night.
The eighth grade scored first on a 29-yard touchdown run by T.C. Abbott to take a 6-0 lead after the Colts stopped McNabb on two possessions forcing punts both times.
At the end of the first quarter, the Colts intercepted a McNabb pass but couldn’t move the ball and started the second quarter by punting the ball back.

  • Breds have two poor performances...

Harrison County’s soccer Thorobreds lost last Thursday to Paris in the Athletic Complex in a game that Coach Nick Hill described as one where they ”just went through the motions.”
When the Thorobreds got caught watching the ball bounce in the penalty area, Paris took a 1-0 lead on a rebound shot off a Chris Ortiz stop. This gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead at the half.
