  • Fillies track team takes 7th...

The Harrison County Fillies Track Team finished the AA State Championships on Friday in seventh place. It’s the best finish for the Fillies in 26 years, according to head coach Danny Simpson.
As a team, the Thorobreds came in 25th overall out of over 40 teams. They ended their run in the championships tied with Louisville’s Christian Academy.
Coaches Simpson and Robert Walker said that the overall results were a great showing from both teams. In addition there were some outstanding individual results.

  • Fillies eliminate Campbell...

The Harrison County Fillies joined with their baseball counterparts Monday afternoon by eliminating the Campbell County Camels by  a score of 6-1 from the 10th Region Softball Tournament in Mount Sterling.
The difference in the two games — the Fillies only needed seven innings to win their opening round.
Another important difference is that the Camels’ softball squad didn’t come into the 10th region tournament as highly ranked.

  • Thorobreds survive Camel’s...

The Thorobreds learned a hard lesson about baseball in their first-round game of the 10th Region Tournament against Campbell County Monday afternoon in Winchester.
It’s not over until the last out has been called.
At the top of the seventh inning, the Thorobreds may have thought they had the win all sewn up. They had a comfortable 5-1 lead and the defense locked the Camels down to only one run in the second.
But that four-run cushion may have seemed just a little too comfortable to the ‘Breds.

I am going to give my opinion about “Deflate Gate” in a while, but first The University of the Cumberlands.
There have been several Harrison County graduates head to Williamsburg to further their education and play ball of some kind. However, the influx of Thorobreds at this time is becoming a large part of the baseball program.
