  • Coach Whitaker has always served...

I had the honor and priviledge of introducing Camryn Whitaker at the Cynthiana Lion’s Club meeting on Tuesday of this week.  As all local sports fans are surely aware, Camryn was recently named as a new assistant coach in the University of Kentucky’s women’s basketball program.
This is not about her exploits either on the court as a player, or on the sidelines as a coach.

  • Combs joins FLW Tournament Trail...

Cynthiana angler Shawn Combs has a few stops to make this week before he can head out to his Walmart tour, which will begin at home.
Combs, 37, of Carl Stevens Road, is fishing at Bassfest this week in Paris, Tennessee. However, he will follow that with an appearance in Cynthiana at Walmart.
He will be sharing stories and tips as part of the Forrest L. Wood (FLW) Tournament Trail. Wood was the creator of Ranger Boats.
Combs, who is part of the Georgetown College fishing team, will be helping celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week with FLW.

  • Kentucky Thunder
  • Baseball or softball the way it...

There has been a great deal in the news lately about sportsmanship or lack of, same in youth and other sports.
Most of the examples of poor sportsmanship come from youth sports which, of course, are the last place that poor sports belong.
There are examples from one of the high schools in Northern Kentucky taking their freshman team off the field to coaches verbally abusing young players to fisticuffs among the “fans.”
