The Harrison County Fillies track squad and the Harrison County Thorobreds track squad have two very different scenarios going into the 2018 season.  The one similarity is that neither team has had any kind of decent weather to prepare for the season that is scheduled to begin Saturday at Woodford County.

The Harrison County Thorobreds archery team was one point shy of winning the KHSAA Regional Saturday placing second with a score of 1930.
Seventh-grader Bryce King led the Breds with a second place finish shooting a score of 289 with 20 tens.  Gunner Bryan, a sophomore, shot a career high Saturday with 280 and 15 tens.  Seventh-grader JD Rose also had a career high 280 with 13 tens.

The Harrison County High School girls’ archery team won the KHSAA region title Saturday with a score of 1,939.  The rules of the KHSAA this year divides the teams into boys’ and girls’ teams with each team consisting of 12 archers from grades 7-12.  The top seven scores count for the team score.

When a team loses seven seniors even the Harrison County baseball program with all of its success has some questions and some holes to fill.
That is what veteran Hall of Fame Coach Mac Whitaker is working on as his 41st season approaches.  Whitaker has the holes filled for now but depth is a problem without an answer yet.

  • The best of all time

I just glanced at an item on Facebook about the greatest players of all times in sports.  The most recent argument that has been brought up is between Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
I don’t think either of them is the greatest of all time though between the two I would take Jordan.

Veteran, yet youthful, Fillies head coach Christine Garnett welcomes back 10 full or part time starters from last year’s 10th Region champions to do battle in the 2018 season.
Gone are starters Taylor Reffett and MaKayla Cloyd and DH Emily Hendrix from last year’s 24-13 team.  Garnett will fill the spots with girls who have a lot of playing time under their belts.
