  • Cynthiana Main Street vying for $25K cash prize in national contest Vote now to advance Cynthiana Main Street to the next round

On Feb. 26, Independent We Stand, the national small business movement, kicked-off its third annual America’s Main Streets contest to help consumers, small business owners and Main Street organizations reward a deserving Main Street with $25,000 in cash and sponsor-related prizes. Cynthiana Main Street in Cynthiana is among this year’s nominees.
America’s Main Streets play an important role in the long-term success of communities and help build a sense of place reinforcing this year’s theme: “Local Memories. Lasting Impact.”

  • Three-county race right around the corner

We are getting so excited for this year’s Tri-County Road Race Series. This is a three-part race series that takes you to Lake Carnico in Carlisle, Downtown Paris and Downtown Cynthiana. This is the first time we have partnered with other counties and we can’t wait.
Each race has its own personality and comes with a shirt and goody bag. If you sign up to participate in all three races, you receive a one-of-a-kind participation medal, handmade right here in Cynthiana by Licking Valley Laser Works.

  • Session begins to wind down, but the work continues to ramp up

As always, it was a busy and eventful week in Frankfort. Although we had a short week with only four days of action, every day was fairly lengthy and the end result was a plethora of bills and resolutions passed, most of which are heading straight to the governor for final approval.
Conference committees were also named this week. Conference committees are groups of both senators and representatives that come together to hash out differences on things the two bodies disagree on.

In response to Lee Kendall’s excellent article, I have some words that might explain our situation.
Manners, respect, discipline, responsibility, and consequences.
These words are meaningless nowadays for children and adults.
We are now in the third generation of this degradation.
This started with removing control from teachers and on up to the same for cops. No consequences.
A three day suspension for a rouge student is a three day holiday on the streets.
