    The Cynthiana Board of Adjustments will not meet Feb. 13 due to no items on the agenda.
    Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Thursday, Feb. 13 at Parkside at 11 a.m.; Shady Lawn, Noon.
    FRIDAY, Feb. 14
    Blood Drive. The KBC Bloodmobile will be in Cynthiana on Friday, Feb. 14 from 2-7 p.m. at Walmart, US 27 S. Every donor will receive a free long sleeve shirt.

    Kev’s claims bowling
    tournament title
    The sixth annual Jody Wachter Memorial Bowling Tournament was held over the last two weekends, Feb. 1 and 2, and Feb. 9 and 10.
    Kev’s, a local bowling team competing in the Wednesday Night League at Galactic Alley, rolled a score of 3,606 to claim the top spot. Team members are Allen Wachter, Kevin Perkins, Rick Thompson, Kris Caswell and Daniel Perkins. Mint Brook Farms, also from Cynthiana, came in as runners up.

    Western Kentucky University forensics team members traveled to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take part in two tournaments the weekend of Feb. 1-2.
    WKU won the team sweepstakes championships for both tournaments hosted by Eastern Michigan University. Additionally, all members of the WKU team at EMU advanced to final round.

  • Ice laden branches

    The 2009 January ice storm knocked down limbs, electricity and phone service across Kentucky.
    The damage to trees was astounding, to say the least. Last week’s icy “situation” brought back the memory of those dread-filled days as we slowly tackled the clean-up effort at the farm.  
    This year’s ice is not nearly as bad as 2009 but it sure left a mess in its wake. If you are among those with heavy damage assess the situation with an eye towards safety first and foremost.
