    Arrests, citations, warnings
    Dec. 8 -- Charles M. Smith, 29, was cited on U.S. 27  South for no registration plate, no registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card and operating motor vehicle without operator’s license.
    Dec. 9 -- Jason S. Bennett, 34, was cited on Education Drive for no registration plate, no registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card.
    Dec. 9 -- Justin F. Kearns, 25, was arrested on Lincoln Avenue and charged with failure to/improper signal, DUI and disregarding stop sign.

  • Harrison Schools closed Friday due to widespread illness

    According to a press release from Harrison County Schools, classes are cancelled for Friday due to a rising number of reported student illnesses.

     

    However, extracurricular activities and sporting events will go ahead as scheduled, said assistant superintendent David Case.

    "After consulting with local health care professionals, it was determined students were being treated for several different ailments, including the strep throat and viral infections, which have a recovery time of several days.

  • Extension office to offer ham curing project

    For the last few years Harrison County 4-H has conducted a Ham Curing Project. The project included buying the ham and learning the process of curing the ham. The Extension Office last year developed a curing facility so the project participants could participate in the total process of curing the hams.

  • Police nab Fast Max robbery suspect

    Less than 24 hours after Cynthiana’s Fast Max was robbed, police had a suspect in custody.

    Zachary Massey, 24, Cynthiana, was arrested last Thursday morning and charged with first degree robbery. 

  • Courthouse renovation complete

    The majority of the Harrison County Courthouse renovation is complete. County offices, beginning with the judge-executive and his staff, will begin occupying the building as early as next week, according to Judge Executive Alex Barnett.
    Actual costs to renovate the courthouse exceeded the cushion figured into the original project estimate, Barnett said. The overruns involved a number of small details, such as window blinds, a refrigerator, desks and miscellaneous office equipment, that ended up being a larger figure than anticipated, he said.
