    Women’s Book Group. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will host the Women’s Book Group on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at Biancke’s. Book discussion will be “Nineteen Minutes.” Participants can pick up a copy of the book at the library annex.

    The Harrison County High School Site Based Decision Making Council will meet Thursday, Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m. for a special called meeting in the HCHS Library to discuss staffing allocations for 2015-2016.

    The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Feb. 20 at Community Action Headstart at 9:30 a.m.; Cynthiana Baptist Daycare at 10:45 a.m.

    Members of St. Edward Catholic Church invites the public to join us for a fish fry each Friday of Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. and pray the Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent at 7 p.m.

    St. William Church, Williamstown, Ky., will be holding a Lenten Fish Fry each Friday from Feb. 20 through March 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. A variety of meals will be offered for $8. Call 859-816-8646 for phone orders.

    As I write this article, the University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball team is experiencing an undefeated season. Every fan has a favorite Wildcat player of the ten who platoon under Coach Calipari’s system.
    Recently a close friend gave me a book entitled “Daily Devotions for Die-Hard Fans.” In one chapter, the author lists who he thought were the ten best University of Kentucky players.

  • Chamber banquet rescheduled

    The 45th annual Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber of Commerce awards banquet has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 23.

    Originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17, the banquet was cancelled due to Monday’s snow storm.

  • Two HCHS teachers named Teacher of the Week

    Two Harrison County High School teachers were honored as Kentucky Lottery Teachers of the Week by Channel 36. These segments air on Fridays during the noon newscasts. Roger Hurst and Kayla Coburn are pictured with WTVQ’s Alicia Dohmer. Hurst’s segment was Friday, Feb. 13, and Dohmer’s is this Friday, Feb. 20. 



  • Yarnell performs with All-State orchestra in Louisville

    Stephen Yarnell, senior trumpet student at Harrison County High School, was selected to perform with Kentucky’s finest musicians.  

    He participated as a member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra and performed on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville.
