  • Cynthiana writers get publishing boost

    A guest instructor and published poet, Leatha Kendrick, from the Carnegie Center in Lexington will appear on Sept. 18-19 as the Licking Valley Writer’s Workshop in the role of publishing guru. Ms. Kendrick’s publishing credentials include her own published works as well as those of many of her former students, whose work appears in print largely because of her guidance and help.

    A few weeks ago my daughter confessed to the blogosphere that she’s a fraud, albeit an unintentional fraud.

    Her neighbor wanted to take my granddaughter to Toys R Us with her girls and then out to lunch. She called Alison and apologetically admitted that she was planning to take the girls to McDonald’s.

    Young plays for WKU against Vols

    Former Harrison County offensive and defensive lineman Chris “Buba” Young saw his first varsity football action last weekend on a big stage. Young has earned the starting nod for Western Kentucky University’s Hilltoppers as the team’s long-snapper. Young, a red-shirt freshman, played for the Toppers in their 63-7 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

    HCHS CLASS OF 1984

    Come join the class of 1984 in celebrating its 25th year reunion. The reunion will take place Sept. 12 at the Holiday Inn North in Lexington. It will start with a dinner buffet of barbecue ribs, fried chicken, and fried catfish at 6 p.m. The party/dance will begin at 8. The cost of the buffet is $35 per person and the cost of just attending the party/dance is $15 per person.
