  • Commission approves Root, re-appoints Aldridge

    The Cynthiana City Commission appointed Darwin Root to a four-year term on the Cynthiana-Harrison County-Berry Joint Planning Commission at its regular meeting on Tuesday night at the Harrison County Board of Education office.
    Root, the former Harrison Memorial Hospital CEO, will replace Bob Owen on the planning and zoning commission board.
    The commission also reappointed Michael Aldridge to another term on the Housing Authority board of directors.

    A young Cynthiana family has been selected as the latest to receive a Cynthiana-Harrison County Housing Assistance home.
    The ground-breaking ceremony was held last week for the newest recipients of the CHCHA home.
    Tyler Pickett and Courtney Brooks along with their daughter Paisleigh were on hand for the ceremony at the currently vacant lot on Mill Street.

    Thanks to a $25,000 appropriation from the Cynthiana-Harrison County Economic Development Authority, the Harrison County Area Technology Center’s welding curriculum now has a state-of-the-art CNC plasma table.
    “I just want to publicly thank the EDA for all that they do for us,” said ATC welding instructor Michael Tuel. “You can thank the people that help you everytime you see them, but I think it’s important to publicly thank them.”
