    Raeleigh Sue Campbell
    Brett and Miranda Campbell of Georgetown, Ky., announce the birth of their daughter, Raeleigh Sue Campbell.
    She was born July 16, 2013 at Baptist Health, Lexington, and weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Jeff and Debbie Beagle of Georgetown; maternal great-grandparents are Christine Coy and Bennie and Doris Beagle of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Steve and Tammy Campbell of Lexington; paternal great-grandparents are Eugene and Frieda Campbell of Lexington.

  • Woman’s Club of Harrison County meets for January luncheon meeting

    The Woman’s Club of Harrison County met on Friday, Jan. 10 at the Hospice of the Bluegrass community room. Anna Ruth McLoney welcomed members and led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
    Layne Tussey catered the luncheon and prepared a meal of a hearty soup, assorted sandwiches and dessert. Cheryl Case offered the blessing of the meal.

    10 years ago . . .
    Births announced this week are: Tiffany Suzanne Berryman, Dec. 29, daughter of James Berryman and Marianne McKee.
    Harrison Memorial Hospital’s board of directors has decided to keep the local facility independent. HMH began negotiations with other larger health care systems with the idea of being able to provide wider, collaborative health care in Harrison County. The board established a planning committee to review the options for HMH, which was established in 1906.

  • Plan ahead for spring garden

    Plant and seed catalogs will be jamming the mailbox any day now.  
    I always feel like January ushers in a clean slate for the garden: Optimism abounds among fresh ideas and promises never to repeat a crop-busting mistake are sharp in my memory.  
    Sometimes the slate stays clean; sometimes it doesn’t.  Either way the next couple of months can be used to plan and prepare for the next growing season.
