    Bonnie Joanne Dailey will graduate Saturday, May 11 from Morehead State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
    She is the daughter of Tom and Teresa Dailey of Cynthiana.

  • Get happy, part two

    A few weeks back I wrote about “What’s making me happy,” which got a great response from people.
    Some sent emails or stopped me in the market to tell me what’s making them happy. Seems everyone was riding the happiness train.
    But then someone pointed out that God never promised us happiness and that those who pursue it never obtain it.
    There’s always a buzz kill in every crowd.
    Still, the person had a good point and one worth exploring.

    Boyers Chapel will be having Homecoming services June 9.
    Morning service begins at 11 a.m. with a meal being served at 1 p.m. Homecoming services will begin at 2 p.m. Special singing by the Bluegrass Gospel Travelers and the sermon by Ben Cain.
    Everyone is invited to attend.

    Anthony Carelli, 26, of Cynthiana, Ky., has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will  begin training in Georgia as an education volunteer. Carelli will make a difference living and working in a community teaching English as a second language.
    “To help others, to travel, to grow as an individual, and the challenge attracted me to the Peace Corps,” Carelli said.

    Navy Seaman Recruit Jake A. Ayala, son of Theresa B. Cember of Cynthiana, Ky. and Rich A. Ayala, of Cynthiana, Ky., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
    During the eight-week program, Ayala completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
