  • Court says yes to Dollar General zone change

    On Thursday, July 12, the Harrison County Fiscal Court voted to overturn a zoning decision made nearly two months ago by the Cynthiana-Harrison County-Berry Joint Planning Commission.
    The court’s decision paves the way for the construction of a Dollar General Store on land owned by Jerry and Kristin Bacon, on the corner of Blackburn Lane and US 27, adjacent to the Grandview  Country Store.

  • 3M breaks ground for $4.1 million warehouse, expansion

    Construction was begun on Monday, July 16, on the north west side of the existing 3M property for a 28,000 square foot warehouse.

  • Harrison County Fair begins Saturday, July 23, pre-fair events are Saturday, Sunday

    The 2018 Harrison County Fair officially begins on Monday, July 23 and extends thru Saturday, July 28. However, there are pre-fair activities scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22.

    The Harrison County Clothing Closet’s new director Tara Farrar described the service as operating like “a well-oiled” machine.
    Farrar said her goal will be to expand on what her predecessor, Donna Gayle Northcutt, has already established.
    “It’s really an awesome service,” Farrar said Monday afternoon from the center at the corner of Poplar and Pleasant streets.

    I wish to welcome everyone to the start of the 2018-19 school year at HCMS. A number of significant changes are in store for HCMS this coming school year. From personnel changes to dress code modifications, 2018-19 looks to be a new horizon of change.

    Dear St. Edward School and Preschool Parents,
    Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year!  The first day of school for St. Edward is Tuesday, Aug. 7. This day and Wednesday, Aug. 8 are private transportation days. Public school bus transportation will begin Thursday, Aug. 9. Please check the listings for your child’s route and bus number.

    Our teachers and staff are getting excited as we gear up for another great school year! I have seen many of you around town, but I look forward to seeing everybody again, so please come to our Back-to-School Night from 5:30-7:00, on Tuesday, Aug. 7. This is an open house for Pre-K and grades 1-5, so feel free to head straight to your child’s classroom when you arrive. Staff will be up front to offer directions, should you need them.
