    I wish to welcome everyone to the start of the 2018-19 school year at HCMS. A number of significant changes are in store for HCMS this coming school year. From personnel changes to dress code modifications, 2018-19 looks to be a new horizon of change.

    Dear St. Edward School and Preschool Parents,
    Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year!  The first day of school for St. Edward is Tuesday, Aug. 7. This day and Wednesday, Aug. 8 are private transportation days. Public school bus transportation will begin Thursday, Aug. 9. Please check the listings for your child’s route and bus number.

    I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful and safe summer. I hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. Our theme for 2018-2019 is “Wild About Learning”!
    We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. At Northside, we all work to help every child feel welcomed and connected, as well as, strive to challenge each student to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.

    It’s almost time for a new school year to begin! Our entire faculty and staff hopes that you have enjoyed your summer break and are ready to return to school refreshed for an exciting new year. Our school-wide theme for the 2018-2019 school year is “Southside Proud; Oh, the places you will go.” We will work hard to show the importance of education and how it will open many doors throughout the rest of their lives. It is so exciting to think about where these young people will go!

    Dear Westside Families,
    Our teachers and staff are getting excited as we gear up for another great school year! I have seen many of you around town, but I look forward to seeing everybody again, so please come to our Back-to-School Night from 5:30-7:00, on Tuesday, Aug. 7. This is an open house for Pre-K and grades 1-5, so feel free to head straight to your child’s classroom when you arrive. Staff will be up front to offer directions, should you need them.

    I hope the summer has been full of great moments and family fun. Eastside staff members are incredibly excited to begin the 2018-19 school year! We will work hard to provide a year filled with exciting opportunities for students.
    Eastside will host a “Back to School Night” on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 5:30-7:00. This event will give your child the opportunity to meet his/her new teacher, connect with old and new friends, and get ready for an amazing school year!

  • Harrison Memorial got its start in a residential building on Penn Street

    One of the oldest and most revered businesses in Harrison County is probably not a business at all.
    Harrison Memorial Hospital is one of the last community hospitals that has not been swallowed up by a national health-care chain.
    It has grown from a hospital that originally began in a residence in the downtown area, to a state-of-the art, full-service, health-care facility.
