  • LVC Extension offers childcare training

    The Licking Valley Campus Workforce Solutions and Wedco District Health Department are sponsoring a childcare training.  
    This training will take place at the Licking Valley Campus Extension in Harrison Square on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  
    The cost of the class is $45.  The training will have three classes including:
    •Carol Carson, child care health consultant with the Wedco District Health Department, will teach a session entitled, Domestic Violence and the Effect on Children.  

  • Changes made in Kentucky GED program

    The GED program in the state of Kentucky has recently undergone some important changes for the benefit of the students working to complete the work and pass the test.  
    This new test was in place beginning in January 2014.  Some of those changes include:
    •The test now covers four areas, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies
    •The question forms vary from multiple choice to fill in the blank, drag and drop,  hot spots, short answer and extended responses.  

  • HCHS band participates in KMEA District Festival Assessment

    On Saturday, March 22, 20 students from the Harrison County High School Band participated in the KMEA District Solo and Ensemble Festival Assessment held at Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, Ky.
    Twenty-five events were performed by HCHS students including 11 solos, six duets, four trios, two quartets, one sextet and one seven-member percussion ensemble.
    All but one of these events received a distinguished rating from the KMEA adjudicators.

  • Harrison County FBLA receives awards at Region 4 Conference

    On March 11, 17 members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) from Harrison County ATC traveled to Northern Kentucky University to compete at the Region 4 FBLA Conference. Students had a great time competing in events, making new friends, and attending the talent show.

  • Harrison County students participate in KUNA conference

    Harrison County High School was recently represented by nine students at the Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) which was held March 9-11 at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville.

  • Charles Tribble Conservation scholarships available

    The Harrison County Soil & Water Conservation District has two scholarships available for 2014. There are two $1,000 scholarships in memory of the late Charles Tribble available through the local conservation district office.
    Scholarship applications are open  any high school senior or graduate who is a resident of Harrison County and who will be enrolled in a conservation, environmental and/or science program of studies.
    Applications are due to the conservation district by March 31, 2014.

  • Harrison County Skills USA students participates in regional competition

    On March 7, 26 Skills USA members from the Harrison County ATC Chapter competed in the Regional Skills USA Competition held in Lexington at BCTCS.
    Students participating were from the construction, auto tech, information technology, welding, industrial maintenance and  CMM (Computerized Manufacturing Machining) programs.
