  • Entrepreneur Fair at Harrison Square, Nov. 17

    Amber Florence, teacher at the Harrison County Area Technical Center, and Garnett Furnish, director of the local Economic Development Authority, joined forces to sponsor the first Entrepreneur’s Fair, on Saturday, Nov. 17.

    The fair was held in a vacant space that used to be the home of the Flower Box Florist in the Harrison Square Shopping Center. Over one dozen students in Florence’s entrepreneur classes participated in the fair, setting up their own booths, displaying their unique products and marketing them.

  • HCMS 7th grade science project competition

    The 7th grade students at Harrison County Middle School were asked to become engineers of a card stock marble roller coaster. The students were placed into cooperative groups where they planned, created, and executed a marble roller coaster. They had over a week in class to complete this task resulting in roller coasters that towered over six feet tall.  Students analyzed the kinetic and potential energy stored in the system of the roller coaster for their final project grade.

  • CPE announces new online resource for military students, families

    The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education today announced the launch of a new initiative to support military students’ transition to campus.
    The new centralized resource is the first phase of a long-term plan recently outlined by CPE President Aaron Thompson.
    “Kentucky is in a unique position to serve those who serve our country,” said Thompson. “Being able to simplify and support the transition from solider to student and from campus to career is an honor and responsibility that we take seriously.”
