    The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) are teaming up for the fourth year to promote their joint campaign, “Put a Freeze on Winter Fires,” which works to educate the public about potential fire hazards during the winter months and holiday season.

  • Audit of Harrison County Sheriff’s tax settlement released

    State Auditor Adam Edelen has released the audit of the sheriff’s settlement - 2013 taxes for Harrison County Sheriff Bruce Hampton. State law requires the auditor to annually audit the accounts of each county sheriff. In compliance with this law, the auditor issues two sheriff’s reports each year: one reporting on the audit of the sheriff’s tax account and the other reporting on the audit of the fee account used to operate the office.

  • Blue Grass Energy hosts annual 12 Days of Giving

    Blue Grass Energy and its employees will host their sixth annual 12 Days of Giving Dec. 1-16. During the first 12 business days of December, the cooperative is collecting nonperishable food for local pantries and items for patients at UK Children’s Hospital.
    “Blue Grass Energy’s purpose is ‘making life better, the cooperative way’ and our 12 Days of Giving campaign does just that,” said Denise Myers, Blue Grass Energy spokeswoman. “We know many in our area are struggling this time of year, and this is a small way we can help.”

  • Natural gas prices increase slightly as winter approaches

    Columbia Gas of Kentucky has received approval from the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) for its most recent gas cost adjustment (GCA).
    Columbia Gas of Kentucky’s gas supply cost is now $7.1976 per Mcf (1,000 cubic feet), a 4.45 percent increase. The new gas supply cost will remain in effect until the next scheduled gas cost adjustment in March 2015.
    Columbia Gas of Kentucky typically adjusts its prices quarterly to reflect current market conditions.
