    Births announced this week are: Jayden Ann Marshall, April 10, daughter of John and Amanda Marshall; Abbey Grace Sparks, Feb. 25, daughter of Arleigh and Brenda Sparks.
    Longtime recreation director Kenny Copes steps down after serving 11 years with the recreation department. Copes will be replaced by interim leader Rick Chasteen.
    Cynthiana Vision Center, 202 W. Pleasant Street, will be holding an Ugly Glasses Contest. Drop off a photo of you in your prescription eyewear and you could win an eye exam and a new pair of glasses.

    The Northcutt reunion will take place Saturday, June 2 at Kincaid Lake State Park at 12:30 p.m. at Shelter #2.

  • Harrison County Schools are participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:
    • River Road Ball Park - River Road, June 4 - July 27 from 12-12:30 p.m.

  • Eighty six years ago on April 30, 1932, Beta Sigma Phi sorority celebrated it’s first Founders Day. On April 30, 2018, four local chapters celebrated Founders Day and Honors Night at the Extension office with a dinner and awards.
    Omega chapter hosted the event with Barbara Snopek, president.

  • Skylar Jean Gamble was born to Cheryl Faulkner and Matthew Gamble of Cynthiana on April 28, 2018 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz., and is welcomed by her brother Caleb Gamble.
    Maternal grandparents are Douglas Frederick and Evelyn Frederick of Paris and Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Dorothy Frederick and Jerry Harney.
    Paternal grandmother is Lisa Gilbert of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandmother is Nettie Meeks.

  • On May 27, 2017 the Oddville Alumni Group voted to disband the alumni association at the end of the meeting.
    It was the 100th anniversary of the first graduate from Oddville High School and the 90th year of the alumni association. Any funds left in the Alumni Association will be given to the Harrison County Museum where the books of the Oddville Alumni Association will be housed.
