  • Bill McCann, the Roxford Poet, has started a poetry blog on Blogspot.com at the address roxfordpoet.blogspot.com. McCann, who lives on the 12 acre Roxford Farm near Corinth in northern Harrison County writes poetry inspired by places and spaces in Grant and Harrison Counties including barns, churches, homes, road, vistas, cemeteries, pets and wildlife.

  • MONDAY, Jan. 13
    Champions For A Drug-Free Harrison County will meet Monday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.

    TUESDAY, Jan. 14
    Young Adult Book Group selections are in and ready for pick up at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. This group is open to middle school, high school and adults. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Ryan Michael Booth, the 17-year-old grandson of Floyd and Sue Doyle of Cynthiana, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
    Booth, who lives in Lexington with his parents Mike and Melanie Booth, led a neighborhood fresh water education project in conjunction with Lexington Urban County Government Division of Water.
    The project included stenciling over 400 storm drains and distributing educational flyers throughout the Chevy Chase neighborhood educating the neighborhood on how to keep its fresh water streams clean.

  • ELMARCH UNITED METHODIST
    It’s a new year and a time for new things. Come and fellowship with us at Elmarch United Methodist Church, which now has two worship services.
    Beginning Saturday, Jan. 11 at 5:45 p.m., Elmarch UMC will be hosting a contemporary style worship service. The Sunday 11 a.m. service is a more traditional style.

  • I’m not big on reflecting upon my life, past, present or future, and now thanks to Facebook I don’t have to — Facebook has done it for me.
    Today I logged onto my page and it said to click here to see my “20 biggest moments” of 2013, culled from my status updates throughout the year. (I’m curious to know how they choose which ones are “big moments.” Where mine are concerned, I’m guessing it may be my use of exclamation points.)
