  •  Omega sorority met April 2 at the home of Cheryl Case, and began the evening with a candlelit ceremony to advance members to higher Degrees.
    Bonnie Teater was moved into the Preceptor Degree. Seven members were moved into the Masters Degree. They are: Charlene Dawson, Nancy Deitemeyer, Judy Judy, Rosemary Lucas, Betty Kay McCullough, Barbara Snopek, and Pat Terhune. These seven members have been active since 1972.

  • The Cynthiana Chapter NADAR met at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library on April 14.
    Jane Whitehead, Regent, called the meeting to order. The DAR Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, The Daughter’s Pledge, The American’s Creed and the Preamble were recited, followed by singing of The Star Spangled Banner.
    Whitehead read the President General’s message, Gail Kesterson read the National Defense Message, Susan Dycus read the American Indian Minute, and Whitehead read the Conservation Minute.

  • One of the most anticipated rites of spring is dusting off the tiller and heading out to the vegetable garden for a little soil play. It is one of those things you can’t plan for, though. It becomes a waiting game because we can’t do it if the soil is too wet; we don’t want to do it if it is too cold and we only have the time to do it when the weekend rolls around.
    Well, what would you say if I told you that you were off the hook when it comes to spring tilling?  

  • Gabriel Heath Jones
    Gabriel Heath Jones was born to Donny and Leslie Jones of Cynthiana on Feb. 15, 2018 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz., and is welcomed by his sisters, Brinlee and Ellie.
    Maternal grandparents are Gary and Connie Perkins of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Richard and Helen Perkins.
    Paternal grandparents are Donald and Joyce Jones of North Middletown, Ky.

  • The Woman’s Club of Harrison County met on Friday, April 13 at Bluegrass Care Navigators for their monthly luncheon and business meeting. Virgie Wells, president, welcomed members, guests and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • Kellyn Ann Thompson Hyatt, daughter of Bill and Carol Hyatt of Cynthiana, and Michael Scott May, son of Lisa May and JC May, both of Cynthiana, announce their upcoming wedding.
    The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at The Summer House in Millersburg, Ky., by invitation only. Invitations have been sent.
