    She weighed 6 lbs. 15.9 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Ronda Stroub of Cynthiana and Paul and Brenda Bingham of Pineville, Ky.; maternal great-grandmother is Jean Anderson.
    Paternal grandparents are Mike and Georgia Rice of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Amos and Lora Rice.

    The 40th annual Earlywine reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at Blue Licks State Park.
    A potluck lunch will be served at 12:30. Bring your favorite dish and any pictures and information you would like to share.

    The descendants of Nicholas Corbin and Mary G. Holton Marsh will hold their annual family reunion on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Elks Shelter on U.S. Hwy. 62 East.

    Births announced this week are: Thomas James Gibson, May 27, son of Matthew and Autumn Sadler Gibson; Sean Patrick Powers, Jan. 10, son of David and Lyn Pretzsch Powers.
    Ground has been cleaned up and leveled for the new Harrison County athletic complex to be built beside Harrison County Middle School. The board of education paid $66,528 to clean up a dump site found when the excavation began.

  • Phytophthora blight returns in pepper plants

    About 45 years ago, a fungus was discovered in pepper crops in New York and since it has spread as far as California and Florida.  
    It’s in our midst, as well.  The fungus in question causes phytophthora blight in peppers. Some refer to the sudden wilting of peppers as damping off, phytophthora root rot, crown rot or stem and fruit rot.

    Bryson Lee Ritchie was born to C.J. Ritchie and Brooke Ritchie of Cynthiana on May 31, 2018 at Baptist Health, Lexington.
    He weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Brendyn Ritchie.
    Maternal grandparents are Terry and Angie McMichael of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Rosalie (Leon) Tunks, Bonnie Shawler, and Joe McMichael.
    Paternal grandparents are Kristin Ecklar and Chris and Michele Ritchie of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Brenda and Doug McCauley and Betsey (Harold) Herron.

  • Harrison County Community Fund donates to HMH KidTown Playground Project

    The Harrison County Community Foundation, on behalf of the Harrison County Community Fund, granted a $2,500 donation to the Harrison Memorial Hospital KidTown Playground Project.
    HMH KidTown was excited to receive the donation from The Harrison County Community Fund. The Harrison County Community Fund, a local, permanent, charitable endowment, was established by local citizens for the perpetual benefit of the community to support local, civic and charitable causes.
