Connect time is 9-9:45 a.m. for some recreation and Bible Study for our youth with the youth Pastor. Adults will also meet for fellowship in the community room at these times. Service will begin at 10 a.m. with live worship. Come as you are and worship with us.

  • Walking where Jesus walked

Donna and I recently visited Israel and many of its historic sites.
It is amazing to stand on the banks of the Sea of Galilee and inspect a 1st century Galilean fishing boat and wonder what stories it held.
It was frightening to look out over the barren Judean desert and the fissured flats of the Dead Sea and wonder which wilderness Satan tempted Jesus.
It was inspiring to look down from the Mount of Olives on the Eastern (Golden) Gate and Temple Mount, and reflect that one day Jesus will stand on that same mount and walk through that gate.

As the story goes, Chippy the parakeet never saw it coming.
His owner had decided to use the vacuum cleaner hose to clean out Chippy’s cage -- with Chippy still sitting on his perch.
As Chippy’s owner turned on the vacuum cleaner, the phone rang, and as she reached to answer it, the vacuum cleaner hose moved slightly toward Chippy and -- “thwuuupp!”
Chippy’s owner immediately dropped the phone and tore open the vacuum cleaner bag to rescue a very dusty, very scared bird.

  • If you can’t say something good....

I was recently reading an article entitled “Whatever Happened to Civility?” It was written by Dr. Rocco Leonard Martino, founder and chairman of the board of Cyber-Fone Technologies Inc.
We do not have to turn very far to see that this question should be one that begs for our response and action. It is easy to find a widespread breakdown in civility between individuals and groups of people. Rocco reminds us:
“Civility is a noun that essentially means showing respect for another person’s words, actions, beliefs and demeanor.

This week my mind is going in 100 different directions. Here’s some of the things that are making me crazy/giving me comfort:
A woman I met in a 12-step program sums up the first three steps like this: “I can’t. God can -- I think I’ll let him.”
    I can’t.
I can’t fix the things in my life or the things in others’ lives that are broken. I’ve been trying, and I can’t. I can’t.
    I can’t, but God can.

  • The Bible is God’s side of the conversation

You know, we should read our Bibles. You probably even started this year with good intentions of reading it each day or at least a little more regular. But with so many distractions, interruptions, demands and activities that impact our day it makes it hard to sit down and read God’s Word.
Reading the Bible is a struggle for most of us, but opening God’s Word and taking time to listen and understand what God has to say is one of the most important blessings we have to build that relationship with Him.

It’s been a while since my neighbor lady has wreaked havoc on my life.
However, this past week she made up for lost time.
To bring you up to speed on who my neighbor lady is: She’s my evil twin, my alter ego, an overbearing, intrusive buttinsky mother who has trouble remembering that once the umbilical cord is cut moments after birth, it should not and cannot ever be reattached and it is futile and foolish to even try -- although she’s been trying for more than 40 years.
