  • Who are you?

If I were to ask you who you are, what would be your response?  Mother, father, sister, brother, grandfather, grandmother, teacher, nurse, doctor, farmer?
Those are all important parts of who we are, but the most important thing to remember when you are asked who you are is that you are a child of God. That is our most important identity in this world.

  • Love is. . .loving “how you are”

I’ve said many times that whenever someone starts a sentence with, “I know how you are,” what follows is rarely anything you want to hear.
I have this thing about unmade beds. I believe that everyone should make his or her bed every day immediately upon arising. No exceptions.
Imagine my surprise when I married someone who does not share my beliefs.
His mom made his bed every day, and then when he went into the military, he paid people to make his bunk for him.
And then he married me, a bed-making maniac.

  • My Faith Made Complete

This is the month we come together as a group of believers and stand shoulder to shoulder in unity to pray.
On April 17, 1952, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming the National Day of Prayer into law in the United States. President Reagan amended the law in 1988, designating the first Thursday of May each year as the National Day of Prayer.

You know the commercial about the man who, all throughout his life, thought he was of German descent and then once he had his ancestry DNA tested he learned he’s really Scottish and Irish?
I have a friend who had her DNA tested last year and learned that she’s not so Irish as she had always thought. Turns out she’s mostly mumbo-jumbo European with very little Irish ancestry. (Her dark hair and olive complexion should’ve been a telltale clue.)

  • There’s nothing better, in ANY season

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
Today, I’d like to take a look at the different “seasons” we go through.
    A SEASON OF NEED
Hebrews 4:16 tells us, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

  • Grace Notes

If the Rev. Larry Silverman knew anything it was that “Jesus paid it all.”
Larry was co-pastor with his wife, Corinne, at a little local church, New Covenant Grace Fellowship.
He died a few weeks ago after a two-year battle with cancer in his mouth, jaw and throat.
His family told me Larry respected me, but we didn’t always agree on theological issues.
One particular point of difference: “sinner” -- past or present tense.
