  • Not just hearing the word but doing the word

If you ever want to see me panic, just call and say you’re coming over for a visit.
On Sunday, a man my husband used to work with called to say he and his wife were in our area, about an hour away.
He had asked, “Are you going to be home for a while?”
That’s never a question I like to be asked unless it’s from the Publisher’s Clearing House people wanting my address so they can deliver a giant bazillion dollar check.

  • Cynthiana Baptist Church fills two-year senior pastor vacancy

Thundering applause rang through out Cynthiana Baptist Church on Jan. 30, as the 6-foot-10 Nigeria native walked down the aisle after an overwhelming number of “yes” votes named him as the new senior pastor.
After the departure of former pastor Wayne Spivey, CBC has been without a full-time senior pastor for two years. As the CBC pastor search committee worked tirelessly, interim pastor, John Withers, graciously fulfilled the empty position and led the church through the difficult “vacant” period.

  • Alabama pastor makes his new home at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church

Not only has Cynthiana Presbyterian Church recently received a face-lift and a historical renovation to the walls and beautiful copper steeple, but part of the face-lift includes a new face in the pulpit every Sunday morning too.
Patrick Laney has recently been called to fill the position of pastor at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, a position that has been vacant since June 2008.
Since the church’s former pastor, Larry Bowald, left, interim pastor Dr. Art Deyoung has lead the church for two years through the long search for a new leader.

  • Stevenson replaces tenured pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church

When a pastor gives service to the same church for 38 years, they leave a legacy, and usually really big shoes to fill.
Macedonia Baptist Church, was blessed for 38 years of faithful service by Joseph C. Ray. Recently, Ray turned ill and was forced to retire due to his declining health.
Recently though, Macedonia Baptist has received a new type of light in the form of Anthony L. Stevenson.

  • Connersville Christian hires Ashland native to lead church

Some want to be doctors or lawyers when they are young, but Warren French knew at an early age that he was destined to do something much more divine.
Barely a month ago, Connersville Christian Church put an end to a vacancy that had the church without a senior minister.
To fill the position, the Lord sent an Ashland, Ky., native to once again lift the spirits of the growing country church.

  • What face do you show?

The other day I read an article written by Sharon Miller, a woman who stopped wearing makeup “as an act of Christian discipleship.”
She was getting ready to go shopping with her in-laws and as she went through her usual morning routine of blow-drying her hair and picking out an outfit, she decided to go to the mall sans makeup.
She said she had been inspired by a book, “Dance of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Women’s Spirituality,” by Maria Harris.
