* Cynthiana News, Jan. 25, 1855 -- “Fire - On the morning of the 10th, the residence of S. F. January, Esq. situated on the hill, was discovered to be on fire. It originated in the roof, near the chimney, and the safety of the house was considered hopeless; but by the persevering energies of our citizens who worked as men never worked before, the flames were smothered and the fire put our. Too much cannot be said in behalf of the noble exertion of nearly all who were present at the fire.” (S. F. January was first mayor of Cynthiana.
