The Cynthiana Democrat and staff will be celebrating the newspaper’s 150th year anniversary next week with a special edition.
On Wednesday, June 27, the first 150 customers to purchase next week’s edition will receive a piece of cake and punch.
The paper usually hits the stands in front of the Democrat office at 302 Webster Ave. by 3 p.m.
“The paper will be full of history from the last 150 years,” said Becky Barnes, editor. “We have tapped into local history and talked with historians about some of the more prominent stories.”
The Cynthiana Democrat has served Harrison County under 31 mayors and hundreds of commissioners, Mayor James Smith said in a proclamation for Cynthiana Democrat Day on June 20.
“We are so excited to welcome the very people who have helped us continue to generate a local newspaper and be the No. 1 news source for Harrison County,” said Trish Jenkins, general manager of The Cynthiana Democrat. She added that she is anxious to see what history the special edition will include.
