  • Fillies volleyball defeats Lady...

    The Harrison County Fillies volleyball team played host to the Lady Polar Bears of Bracken County Thursday winning 25-12 and 25-13 in the best of three match.  
    The win improved the Harrison County record to 8-9 on the year while Bracken County fell to 6-7.  
    Tuesday night the Fillies traveled to Winchester to face the Lady Cardinals of George Rogers Clark.  
    This time the 5-10 Lady Cards defeated the Fillies in three sets 25-15, 15-25 and 25-20.  The loss dropped the Fillies to 8-10 for the season.

    “Though the score (3-0) may not show it the girls had their best and most organized defensive effort of the season, explained Coach Kevin Gaunce. Two balls for each team bounce a little differently and it’s a completely different outcome.”

  • Breds win second junior varsity...

    Dalton Moore, Malik Powell, and Logan Kellione each scored a touchdown and Tyler Price added an extra point as the Harrison County junior varsity defeated Rowan County 20-0 in Ingles Stadium Monday.
    Former Harrison County coach Ray Graham brought his junior varsity the long distance to play the Thorobreds on this rainy Monday night.  
    The first quarter was scoreless but Harrison County got on the scoreboard with just under six minutes to play in the second quarter on Moore’s short run up the middle for the score.

    The Harrison County Thorobreds golf team played in a 20-team tournament Saturday in Mt. Sterling finishing eighth in the large field.  
    “The finish was very good,” noted Coach Jason Crisp.  “Unfortunately, three of the teams that beat us are in our region.”  
    Jackson County was the overall winner shooting just a few strokes better than runner up Mason County.  
    George Rogers Clark was third followed by Bourbon County, Grant County, Montgomery County and the Thorobreds.

    The eighth grade Harrison County Middle School Colts won their first game of the season Thursday night as they edged the Bourbon County Colonels 22-14.
    Defensive back/quarterback Quenton Pratt grabbed an errant pass thrown by Bourbon County’s Dalen Landrum and carried the ball 20 yards for the winning score with just two seconds left in regulation. Pratt then ran the ball in for a two point conversion to make the final 22-14 score.

  • Breds play well in Montgomery...

    On Saturday the Harrison County Thorobreds golf team traveled to Mt. Sterling to take part in the Montgomery County Invitational.  
    The Breds played well though they finished in 15th place in the 23-team tournament.  
    Franklin County was the winner followed by Henry Clay, Bourbon County and Scott County. Medalist was Andrew Farmer of Estill County who shot 72 for the 18-hole contest.
