  • Henry Clay bedevils Breds with...

The Harrison County Thorobreds fell to 9-11 on the season Tuesday night as they dropped a fast-paced game 70-54 on the Hilltop.
The Thorobreds were playing without senior forward Dillon Pulliam who sprained his ankle in a shoot around earlier in the day.
Pulliam, according to Coach Larry Kendall, will miss Wednesday’s game at Woodford County and could even miss the Friday homecoming battle with Pendleton County.

  • Campbell County rallies to...

The Harrison County Fillies squandered a big lead and made a joyous occasion for senior Jordan Doram not as happy with a 48 to 44 loss to Campbell County Monday night.
Doram scored eight points in the first quarter to become the fifth of the Fillies to score 2,000 points in her career.
Noel Whitaker Kearns, Brooke Faulkner, Camryn Whitaker, Megan Gray McIlvain and Mary Custard-Austin are the five Fillies who have previously passed the lofty career mark.
Jerry Fogle is the only Thorobred to score 2,000 points in his career.

  • The Super Bowl, pleasant memories

The Super Bowl has always been a day of parties and good times for me and I am looking forward to another day of the same on Sunday.
I cannot remember each one year by year, but I do remember some important facts about the Super Bowls that have been played during my life time.
To begin with, the first Super Bowl was played the year that I graduated from Tell City High School. The 1967 battle between the Packers and Chiefs was played in the Los Angeles Coliseum and was easily won by the Packers 35-10.

  • Brossart’s Mustangs edge...

A game that was in reach at the three minute mark got away from the Thorobreds Friday night as they dropped a hard-fought game to the 19-1 Bishop Brossart Mustangs, 60-49, in Alexandria.
The loss stopped the Breds four-game winning streak and left them with a 9-10 record for the season.
The evening started well for Harrison County as the freshman team won their game by a 15-point margin, 48-33. Brossart took the junior varsity, 40-32, in a game that was close throughout. The schools were even for the night heading into the varsity tussle.

    basketball team

Right here in the middle of the coldest winter in a long, long time, the college on the hill has put together a co-ed basketball opportunity for both the men and women students. The teams, called the Hilltop Blues, One and Two,  will play a intramural schedule at the city hall gym in Cynthiana.
