  • Fillies lose second straight...

    The Bourbon County Lady Colonels improved their record to 8-2 Tuesday night as they defeated the Harrison County Fillies 10-3 on Shirley Field.  
    Senior Ashley Coppage put the Fillies on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning after the Lady Colonels did not score in the top half.

  • Breds Florida baseball trip...

    The Harrison County Thorobreds Spring Break trip to Florida was educational but there wasn’t much baseball played due to the weather.
    After losing in the opener on Monday, April 1, to Crestview, 10-0, the weather eliminated the rest of the ball games that were scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday was already planned for a trip to the Pensacola Naval Air Station and National Aviation Museum. The Air Station is the home of the famous Blue Angels.

  • Harrison County Alums make it...

    The Harrison County football alumni team only put seven points on the board Saturday night in Paris but thanks to a stout defense and some booming Rodney Dryden punts that was all they needed to defeat arch rival Bourbon County 7-2.
    The Bourbon County team, which was a combination of Paris High School and Bourbon County High School called the Pride, scored first in the game on a punt attempt by the Harrison County team which did not make it out of the end zone.

  • Rose honored in Sunday...

    The day after his 90th birthday, the Rev. Jimmie Rose delivered the sermon at the First United Methodist Church in Cynthiana.  
    One might say that is great news and all but why is this on the sports page?  
    The answer to that question is Jimmie Rose is an icon of basketball in Kentucky high school laurels as well as a minister/evangelist of renown.

  • Breds basketball holds awards...

    Coach Larry Kendall and the staff of the Harrison County basketball Thorobreds hosted the team in the annual awards banquet Tuesday night at the high school.  
    This ceremony, different from the others, was held on the basketball floor at center court where the team spent many hours over the past years.  
    The six seniors who toiled together for the past four years prompted Coach Kendall to hold the program where they had molded together as a team.

  • Fillies win 3 of 4 in 40-team...

    The Harrison County Fillies traveled to Clarksville, Tenn., last weekend and won three straight games before falling to Macon County, Tenn., 6-2 in the second game on Saturday.
    The Fillies opened the tournament by playing Ohio County, Ky., (2-6) and edging the Lady Eagles by a 2-1 score.  
    Senior Ashley Coppage drove in both Fillies runs in the game with a double and a sacrifice fly.  
    Ohio County’s pitching limited the Fillies to only two hits, the Coppage double and a single by Sydney Motell.

  • Breds take 6-2 win over...

    The Harrison County Thorobreds improved their season record to 5-0 Thursday night with a 6-2 win over the Pendleton County Wildcats (2-3).  
    The game was scheduled to be played in Falmouth but was moved by weather and field conditions to Harrison County.  
    The Thorobreds already owned a 10-0 win over the Wildcats on March 14 on the Hilltop.  
    The game was scoreless until the bottom of the second when John King blasted a two-run home run scoring starting pitcher Jordan Martin.
