    Harrison to host holiday tournament
The Huck Turner Memorial Basketball tournament will be held this December on the Hilltop in Cynthiana.
Coach Larry Kendall’s Thorobreds will host a holiday tournament this year in place of traveling before Christmas as in the past. The games will be Friday, Dec. 22, and Saturday, Dec. 23.

  • Protecting the officials

I was talking with a local basketball official the other day about the subject of what the high school system is required to do for the officials on game day.
I will start by telling you that, to my knowledge, Harrison County goes above what is required.
The school is to have someone to meet the officials when they arrive at the gym and take them to their private dressing facility. They are to have their checks ready or the paperwork to fill out to mail the checks to the officials within a reasonable time frame.

  • On to winter sports

Winter sports are upon us as basketball will get into the exhibition season, and wrestling will get into full swing now that football is over.
I thought that I would go over one more time the fall sports before we move on.
Boys soccer began the season with a new coach and a fast start.
As the season wore on, the boys’ struggled some but came on at the end to give a good accounting for themselves.
The Fillies soccer was supposed to be good and did not disappoint.
