  • The right place and the right...

Saturday night’s Harrison County Football Alumni Association Hall of Fame Banquet was a smashing success.
What I am going to write is not meant as a slight to any other banquet, location for a banquet or any other football coaching staff.  This is only to say that in my opinion the Saturday affair was almost perfectly done.
The Field House is the right place for a sports banquet of any kind.

Virgil Florence, Terry Johnson, Robert Walker, Joe Daniel and Charles “Bubba” Marshall were inducted into the Harrison County Football Hall of Fame Saturday night in a ceremony held at the Field House.
The program began with hospitality and a tour of the new football dressing rooms and the Field House’s weight training facility.
A meal followed with the ceremony beginning around 5:45 p.m.

The Harrison County Thorobreds replaced the annual Maroon/White scrimmage with a special practice last Friday.
The Breds, coming off a grueling weekend camp at Eastern Kentucky University, were nursing some injuries and illness. Coach Neil Furnish opted for the practice in front of a crowd.

  • Fillies drop opening scrimmage...

The Harrison County Fillies soccer team got off to a rough start Saturday when they lost a scrimmage at Pendleton County to Holy Cross of Covington, 3-1.
The loss wasn’t the rough part though. Learning that senior Taylor Landrum will be out for the biggest part of the season with ACL surgery was certainly a blow to the squad.
Amelia Bolin, who was last season’s leader in assists and goals scored, also sat out the scrimmage with an injured knee.

The Harrison County Thorobreds golf team continues to challenge for the top spots in area invitational tournaments while facing some top competition.
The Breds traveled to the Maysville Country Club on Wednesday, Aug. 5, to face a field of 14 other teams in the Mason County/St. Patrick Invitational.
Mason County won the event paced by medalist Tyler Lippert, who shot a three-under-par 69. West Jessamine was second, 13 strokes behind the winning Royals.
