The field of 58 golfers who played in the 48th annual Burley Belles Invitational were treated to some wonderful hospitality by the Ladies Golf Association of the Cynthiana Country Club.
What wasn’t so much of a treat was the extreme heat and humidity that was present for the Friday and Saturday 36-hole event. In all, 56 of the golfers completed the 36 holes which was quite a feat in its own right.

First-year head coach Richard Crowdy is looking forward to the new season with great anticipation and excitement. The Thorobreds lost seven seniors off of last year’s squad, most of whom played a lot of minutes and were very experienced.
Mike Ortiz, Fox Ruano, Michael Mattox, Levi Hunt, Maxx Warr, Austin Jackson, and Ricardo Menchaca all have left the hallowed halls of HCHS so Crowdy has many positions to fill.

  • Changes for the better?

The commissioner of Major League Baseball seems intent on changing the rules in order to speed up the game.
His focus is on the pitchers and the time that it takes between pitches. According to an article in the Chicago Tribune, his plan includes installing a time clock.
If this is the best that he can do, he needs to forget it and baseball might want to look for a new leader.
