The Harrison County Fillies softball team batted around in the first inning Wednesday in Falmouth as they pounded the Pendleton County Lady Cats 10-0 in five innings.
Pendleton County picked up only one hit in the contest when shortstop Reagan Carlisle singled in the third inning.  Fillies pitcher Bailey Conley struck out 12 Lady Cats and walked two while hitting one.

  • Honoring the greats

Sunday night I was sitting in a hotel room in Berlin, Ohio, watching ESPN.
The ceremony from Yankee Stadium retiring Derek Jeter’s number two jersey was on before the game between the Yankees and Houston. Ironically, it was only the day before that the Harrison County Thorobreds baseball program honored three former players in the “Fence of Fame” ceremony.
Both ceremonies started me to think again about honoring people who have meant a great deal to Harrison County in both education and sports.
