  • We need girls’ softball fields,...

Last week I put an article into the paper going over the plans for some adventuresome softball people that plan to raise funds to build a softball park for girls’ softball.
I think it is a good idea but what are the chances this will happen?
There are many obstacles in the way some of which should not be obstacles but probably will be anyway.

  • The joys of coaching

I sat down beside Harrison County’s basketball coach Larry Kendall Saturday night before the Harrison County junior varsity played Anderson County.
The Thorobreds are currently 1-6 (1-5 at that time) and Larry has a lot on his mind.  He did not discuss with me any of what I am going to write but I have seen coaches in his predicament many times and it is not a good feeling.
The season is not lost but when you look down the road, not a lot of “certain wins” are staring you in the face.
