  • Seeding is a must

    I attended the 38th District draw Thursday at the Harrison County High School cafeteria.  I find this draw and the region draw very fascinating for several reasons.  I will attempt to explain that and why I think that all districts should seed for boys’ and girls’ programs.
    First, I want to remind you that my cousin was the IHSAA Commissioner when Indiana took the high school basketball to classes and thus ruined the second best high school basketball tournament in the country.

  • HCHS grappers 2nd in Region,...

    Chase Blanton won the 182 pound class and four other wrestlers finished second in their classes to lead the Harrison County wrestlers to a second place finish in the Region 8 wrestling tournament at Boyd County, Saturday, Feb. 11.

    The coaches of the Tenth Region girl’s teams have named the top players in the region by releasing the All Region teams and honorable mention selections.  
    The same coaches named the pre-season top ten in November and the lists are similar but not exactly the same.

    The young and improving Harrison County Fillies played their best game of the season Wednesday night on the Hilltop when they faced Region 11 foe, Woodford County.  
    Woodford County featured a youthful line up with four freshman starters and one junior, Peyton Rose.  The Fillies countered with a starting lineup of two eighth graders, a freshman, a sophomore and a senior.

    The annual draw for the 38th District Tournament was held Thursday morning in the Harrison County High School cafeteria.  
    Harrison County Athletic Director Brad Allison was the host of the meeting which was informal and strictly business.  
    After a few logistical details were taken care of the draw was held with Pendleton County taking the first pill followed by Nicholas County, Robertson County and finally Harrison County.

    Mason County was last Friday night’s Senior Night guests as Harrison County High School honored two seniors who have made big contributions to the basketball program.  
    Larah Kate Kendall, the daughter of Larry and Debbie Kendall, has been her dad’s right hand person since he took over the head coaching job on the Hilltop.   She has done everything from keeping score to running the clock to filming games.

  • Archers continue to win with...

    The Winter Shoot-Out held Saturday at Royal Springs Middle School in Georgetown was dominated by Harrison County’s archery teams.  
    Both the Westside Elementary and Harrison County Middle School teams brought home first place and the Harrison county High School team finished third in Saturday’s competition.
