  • Is it OK to worry now

I wrote last week that it was too early to panic if you are a University of Kentucky football fan.

Not that any of you pay any attention to me, but if you do, I was wrong.

    Go ahead and panic.

Based on the Saturday performance with Florida in the swamp, the Wildcats are in serious trouble. They may be a two-game winner this season with Saturday’s match up with New Mexico State and later with Austin Peay the only wins.

The Harrison County Fillies played Western Hills in soccer beginning last Wednesday and finished this Tuesday night, all in the state capital.

The Fillies played the first 30 minutes last Wednesday and trailed 1-0 when lightning struck causing a 40 minute delay.

Senior Luke Slucher scored two rushing touchdowns and the Harrison County defense converted two Montgomery County fumbles to scores as the Thorobreds beat the Indians 33-20, Friday in Mt. Sterling.

The Harrison County Thorobreds are winless to date but not because they are not putting out an effort.

The Breds played undefeated Grant County to a 0-0 tie on August 30 in Grant County despite having several good shots on goal.

The game was very physical with the Thorobreds showing great restraint so as to not retaliate on some hits.

The Harrison County Fillies continue to play some really good volleyball as they defeated Fleming County Tuesday Aug. 30, Augusta last Thursday and Mason County Tuesday night.

In Fleming County the Panthers put up a battle losing in three sets 25-15, 25-20 and 25-17.

  • All is not lost

I believe that only in Kentucky is one football loss the end of all hope for a winning season. That doesn’t include all teams but only the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Harrison County lost two games early to teams that if we played again we would more than likely beat and all was not lost on the Hilltop.

The Wildcats lost a game Saturday night that many felt was in the win column before the game and certainly by half time many were very confident.
