  • Gaunce, LFC win state open...

    Harrison County High School senior Kelby Gaunce and the LFC team took the U-18 Girls State Open Cup Championship in a tournament played the last two weekends in Elizabethtown, KY.  
    The first weekend consisted of pool play with the top four teams in each age group squaring off the next weekend to determine the winner.  The Kentucky State Open Cup is part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.

    Upward Soccer registration to begin June 8
    Upward soccer registration and evaluations will be held Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Connersville Christian Church. All children age four through sixth grade can play. Every player must attend one evaluation. League games begin Saturday, Aug. 12.

  • Fillies basketball starting...

    The Harrison County Fillies basketball squad has hit the ground running for the summer.  After a successful Future Fillies Camp began on Wednesday, with the players as part of the instruction team, the girls traveled to Nicholasville to play later in the day.  
    The Fillies played West Jessamine in three 20 minute segments.  Harrison County won the first two by 15 points at 38-23.  West Jessamine rallied in the third period but the Fillies held on for a 57-50 win.

    Harrison County first baseman Taylor Reffett has been selected as Player of the Year in the Tenth Region as voted by the region’s coaches.   
    Reffett is one of three seniors on the Tenth Region Champion Fillies and has been instrumental in the Fillies success.  She will play in the East-West All Star games later this month on the East squad.  Coach Christine Garnett praised Reffett’s selection.  

  • Seven-run third propels Clark...

    The Harrison County Thorobreds fell one game short of the much-desired trip to Whitaker Bank Park and the 2017 KHSAA State Baseball Finals.  Wednesday evening the George Rogers Clark Cardinals used a five hit, seven run third inning to get past the Breds in the Tenth Region final 7-3.  

  • Harrison County Track and Field...

    The Harrison County track and field awards program was held Thursday, June 1, with the following awards being presented:
    Academic All-State -- Hannah Creech, Karlee Migneault, Lauren Hitch and Duncan Wiley; Honorable mention -- Gema McCauley, Madison Shanklin and Tyler Jackson;
    Outstand Fillie Athlete -- Hannah Creech, first, 178 points; Gema McCauley, second, 168 points; Brooklyn Moore, third, 103 points; Karlee Migneault, fourth, 68 points; and Haley Creech, fifth, 48 points;

  • 10th Region champs

    The Harrison County Fillies softball team won their first region title since 1995 with a 6-1 win over the Campbell County Camels Wednesday in Winchester. In the three games of the 10th Region tournament the Fillies ran roughshod over the opposition scoring 27 runs and allowing two.
