    The Harrison County Fillies held their annual Awards Banquet Sunday afternoon hosted by Coach Kim Furnish and the Fillies staff.
    After the meal, coaches Jeff Kinney, Joe Hinton, and Dr. Stephen Moses assisted Furnish as they handed out certificates and bars to the varsity, junior varsity and freshman players.

    Alumni Night is Friday
    The Harrison County High School Baseball Alumni Night is this Friday when the Breds take on Conner around 7 p.m. Three former Breds will have their name put onto the Fence of Fame during the ceremonies Friday.  The night begins at 5 p.m. with the entertaining Alumni Batting Practice. Coach Mac Whitaker invites all former Thorobreds to take part in the “old timers batting practice” which precedes the Fence of Fame ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

  • Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy...

    Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives have renewed their Platinum Sponsorship of the Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games for a fourth year. When initiated in 2013, the sponsorship made Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives the largest single Games sponsor for the program since 1999.
    The sponsorship agreement once again includes a presence for Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives at the State Summer Games, as well as at Area Track and Field Meets in service areas of Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.

    The Harrison County Thorobreds beat Lexington Christian, 3-0, Friday behind three-hit pitching from Nathan Fryman as they won the opening game of the Hometown Pharmacy/Frank Shoop Classic.  
    Fryman struck out six and walked only one in easily his best outing of the season.  
    The Breds also picked up only three hits but made the most of three Eagle errors to score the three runs to win the contest.

    The Harrison County Fillies defeated Pendleton County 15-0 Thursday evening on Shirley Field behind a no-hitter fired by senior Jami Davis.  
    Davis faced the minimum in four innings of pitching as she struck out eight and walked none while her teammates played error-free ball on defense.  
    The Fillies scored three runs in both the first and second innings before blasting out to a 13-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

    The Harrison County track teams ran in a tough 11-team meet last Tuesday at Dunbar and then played host to eight other schools in the 47th annual Harrison County Invitational on Saturday.
    Tuesday’s competition was extremely tough as the teams participating were, for the most part, the larger in the area.
    Bryan Station won the girls’ portion of the meet and Scott County took the boys’ part.

    The Harrison County Fillies tennis team prepared for the Big 4 Tournament this Saturday by dispatching Paris and Bracken County last week.  
    The Big 4 Tournament pits the Harrison County team against George Rogers Clark, Montgomery County and Campbell County on the Harrison County courts.
    Last Tuesday, April 19, the Fillies blanked Paris 5-0 in a convincing manner.
