    The Harrison County High School dance team held an open rehearsal last week for members of the community to see the group routine prior to the first competition of the season on Saturday.

    Coach Luke Tucker and the Harrison County Thorobreds wrestlers are competing in a new region this year moving to Region 8, which is referred to as the eastern region.
    Tucker believes that by season’s end his squad will be up to the task to fare well in the region tournament.
    “Cautious optimism,” said the second year coach. “That is what we have with 12 returning starting wrestlers and 30 or more athletes in the program than last year.”
    Some of the new participants are due to the new coaches that have joined Tucker’s staff.

    Thorobreds bowlers start season
    with victory, Fillies third
    The Harrison County High School bowling team hosted the Thorobreds Classic Sunday at Galactic Alley with eight boys’ teams and 10 girls’ teams competing for the title. The Thorobreds were the winners of the boys’ division defeating Lexington Catholic 189-161 and 246-172 in bakers for the title.  
    The Fillies were third losing to Lafayette in three games. The Lady Generals went on to defeat Fleming County in the finals to take the girls’ title.

  • Youth basketball tryouts

    Harrison County Youth Traveling Basketball team tryouts for boys 5th grade will be Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Harrison County Middle School; boys 3rd and 4th grade will be Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at HCMS.

    The Harrison County volleyball Fillies went down to defeat in the 10th Region semifinals to eventual champion Campbell County in three sets Wednesday in Montgomery County.  

  • Carr qualifies for state cross...

    Senior Grant Carr, despite battling an injury, finished 18th in the Class AA, Region 4 Cross Country Meet Saturday to qualify for this Saturday’s state meet. 

    Carr was the top qualifier for the boys’ and girls’ teams as he covered the 5000M distance in 18:14, which is about one minute slower than last year’s time.
