  • Fillies basketball travels to...

    Coach Kim Furnish and the Harrison County Fillies are keeping the road hot this summer as they are traveling this part of the state playing basketball.  
    Last week started in Morehead as the Fillies traveled to Rowan County to play Russell, Robertson County and Mason County on Tuesday.  
    Harrison County bested both Russell and Robertson County, but fell to the Lady Royals by eight points coming up a little short late in the game.

    Since I returned from my Florida baseball trip on Sunday I have been doing some thinking about (and adding up expenses) the amount of time and money that we invested in this trip.
    We are not rich, not even close, and I wonder now how we could ever do something like this again.  
    Before I get into the trip though I want to make a comment that might hack a few people off, but here goes.  
    When I was driving up West Pleasant Street on my way home I thought I was back in Miami.

    Football mini-camp
    is on the Hilltop this week
    Ingles Stadium will be the site of the Harrison County football Thorobreds’ mini camp this Thursday and Friday.  
    The camp will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each day.  The camp is for incoming freshmen and all upperclassmen who will play football at Harrison County High School this fall.  
    The football coaching staff will work on drills and fundamentals in order to improve technique and stamina.

    Harrison County’s all-time hitting leader, Ashley Coppage, was named Miss Softball by the softball coaches of the state in a vote released Saturday.

    The No. 1-ranked Central Hardin Bruins used a big third inning and a big seventh to score six times and subdue the Harrison County Thorobreds 6-1 in the quarterfinals at Whitaker Bank Park Thursday in the KHSAA State Finals.
