  • Harrison County wrestlers win...

Coach Luke Tucker’s Harrison County Thorobreds wrestling team are rounding into shape at just the right time.
The grapplers headed to Hazard last weekend and swept through an eight-team tournament with only six matches lost out of 43. Many of those were losses to teammates.
The region tournament is this week so it appears that the wrestling coaches have the team ready for another run at a region title and then some great performances at the state meet.

  • Fillies lose two weekend games...

The Harrison County Fillies put up a good battle Friday night when they played host to the Lady Mustangs of Bishop Brossart only to lose by a 48 to 36 margin.
Foul trouble for senior center Jordan Doram spelled trouble for the Fillies in this game. Brossart took advantage of her time on the bench to take a lead that the Harrison County girls could not overcome.
Harrison County played the second rated team in the 10th Region close in the first period trailing only 14 to 11 after the opening session ended.

  • A couple happenings

It’s only Monday and I can’t get some issues out of my mind, some good, some not so good in my opinion.
I am going to write about each of them if only to think my way through them if for no other reason.
First the positive because it is always good to find positive thoughts on Monday.
The Harrison County cheerleaders finished 12th in the nation on Sunday. That is good, maybe great or even grand.

Indoor track season begins with meet at Nutter Fieldhouse
Saturday saw the beginning of the indoor track season with the Wildcat Track Classic at the University of Kentucky’s Nutter Fieldhouse. The weather, as we all know, has not been conducive for outdoor training so the Fillies and Thorobreds have been concentrating on hurdles indoors. The results Saturday were evidence of that.
