  • Freshmen lose to Fleming, middle...

The Harrison County freshman team finished its regular season with a 2-4 record as dropping a hard-fought 12-6 verdict to Fleming County Monday night in Ingles Stadium.
Fleming County held a 12-0 half time lead but a 3-yard run by Tyler White made in 12-6 after the two-point conversion failed.
The young Thorobreds made several valiant efforts to score throughout the game, but fell in the end to the Panthers.
The CKC playoffs are next for the freshmen and a rematch with Fleming County seems to be the most likely scenario.

Volleyball hosts McDonald’s Fillies Fall Fling, beats St. Patrick Monday
The Harrison County volleyball team continued a most busy schedule last week as they dropped a two-set match at Madison Central on Thursday, came back on Saturday to play three matches in the McDonald’s Fillies Fall Fling and played St. Patrick’s in Maysville on Monday. They hosted Bishop Brossart on Tuesday and will finish regular season play on Thursday with Bourbon County on the Hilltop.

  • Seniors abandon team

The undefeated, top-ranked in 4A, Highlands Bluebirds are scheduled to roll onto the Hilltop at the Athletic Complex Friday night and it could hardly come at a worse time.
On Monday afternoon, the injury report for the Harrison County varsity football squad was quite extensive with shoulder, Achilles tendons, knee injuries and a couple of recovering concussion victims being the largest issues.

  • Soccer Breds whip St. Patrick,...

Thursday night at the Athletic Complex the Harrison County Thorobreds soccer squad had its way with the St. Patrick Saints pounding the Maysville 11 by 8-1.
The St. Patrick team actually scored the first goal about 10 minutes into the contest as the Harrison County team was a little slow getting back to their positions.
This goal seemed to wake up a sleeping giant as the Breds buried goal after goal into the back of the net past the hapless St. Patrick goal keeper.

  • Fillies roll past Deming,...

The 38th district is just around the corner and the Harrison County volleyball Fillies are working into shape to compete for the title.
The Fillies will host the district on Oct. 9 and 10 in the Hilltop gym.
Harrison County will face Pendleton County in the second match on Tuesday evening with the winner advancing to Wednesday night to face the Nicholas County vs. Deming winner at 7 p.m.
Thursday the Fillies traveled to Mt. Olivet and came away with a 3-1 win over the Lady Devils.

  • Berea meet finds Harrison Co....

The Harrison County cross country team traveled to Berea Saturday with what turned out to be a partial squad at best as several of the teams’ runners were not able to compete for one reason or another.
The runners who were able to participate did well for themselves as they each performed nicely, according to Coach Danny Simpson.
“Our student athletes have other commitments from time to time,” he said. “But that is just an opportunity for others to step up and show what they can do.”
