Harrison County wrestlers lose to Bourbon Co. in Dual Meet
Go 3-2 at Danville Dual Meet
The Harrison County High School wrestling team of Coach Luke Tucker traveled to Bourbon County last Wednesday and came away with a 45-30 loss to the Colonels.
One contributing factor to the loss was two weight classes where the Breds did not compete.
Winning matches for the Thorobreds were 106 lb. Michael Mattox, 113 lb. Austin Harless, 120 lb Nathan Lopez, 152 lb. Colin Coy, 160 lb. Vince Whitt, and 220 lb. Kellon Williams.

The only thing colder than outside Tuesday night was Harrison County’s three-point shooting as a 3-23 performance helped Woodford County to a 66-54 win over the Thorobreds.
Harrison County spent the night settling for the three, which they made one of 16 of after the first period or driving to the goal in hopes of a basket or a foul by Woodford County.

The Harrison County Fillies saw their season record drop to 3-16 Monday night as the Lady Camels of Campbell County used pressure defense to stymie them.
The Fillies problems didn’t start right away as they battled Campbell County close in the first period.
Eighth grader Taylor Reffett made two early three pointers and the Fillies managed to trail by only two points at the end of the opening stanza 11-9.

  • HCHS cheerleaders win region,...

Competing in the small school division, which is one avoided by most, the Harrison County cheerleaders advanced to the state competition by out performing their major rivals and bringing home the first place trophy.
The small division, which is 12 girls cheering, consisted of Bourbon County, George Rogers Clark and Scott High along with Harrison County.
George Rogers Clark had not lost in this division in the past 20 years, according to Coach Jessica Reynolds, and she and the cheerleaders were very excited to have beaten them.

  • “The Man” was the greatest

A mixed message this week as the NFL playoffs are down to the Super Bowl, the Fillies and Breds basketball is only a month from the district tournament, wrestling is winding down with the region only three weeks away, bowling regions this weekend and track getting started.  Add the Reds Caravan this Thursday at 12:45-1:45 at Angilo’s and the cheerleaders winning the region competition and we have a full slate of athletics going on in Harrison County.

  • Thorobreds finish in the Top of...

The Harrison County wrestling team showed some great improvement last Saturday as they finished fifth of 23 teams in the North Hardin Invitational.
The vast majority of the competing schools, like the host, were 5A teams in football, which indicates a larger enrollment of boys.
Central Hardin won the event out scoring second place Fairdale by nearly 50 points.  North Hardin was third followed by Ohio County and the Thorobreds.
