  • Breds’ slow start leads to poor...

    After finishing 14th of 22 teams at Picadome in Lexington Friday, the Harrison County Thorobreds finished last in the 17-team Flyer Classic in Frankfort Monday.  
    Friday’s tournament was hosted by Lafayette, who finished 16th in the event won by St. Xavier. Trinity finished second. Covington Catholic was third in the meet which was dominated by private schools as five of the top 10 participants were private institutions.

    Before I get into my thought for this week, I want to relay a story given to me by Barb Snopek as she received from one of the participants in the Burley Belles Tournament.  
    A lady from northern Kentucky who was playing in the tournament had a flat tire on her way and stopped in one of our local establishments to have it fixed or replaced.  She was in danger of being late for her tee time but misfortune struck at the most inopportune time for her.

    Football alumni banquet is Saturday
    The annual Harrison County Alumni Association Banquet will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Harrison County High School cafeteria beginning with hospitality at 4 p.m. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. provided by the Alumni Association.

    Alumni Night is Aug. 7

    The annual Alumni Night soccer match will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, on LeBus Field. This event will showcase both the 2014 Thorobreds and past players who turn out to do battle with their younger counterparts.
