  • Breds improve to 9-1 defeating...

    There wasn’t anything easy about the Harrison County Thorobreds’ ninth victory of the season Monday night, but a win is a win.  
    The Bracken County Polar Bears rolled onto the Hilltop and gave the Thorobreds a battle before falling 7-5 in a game that was close throughout.  
    Bracken County got on the board in the first inning off Harrison County starter junior Christian Persinger.  
    The Polar Bears struck for three straight singles and a walk scoring a run though Persinger struck out the side.  

  • Fillies blank Bracken Co. 7-0,...

    The Harrison County Fillies improved to 10-3 Monday night as they shutout the Lady Bears of Bracken County, 7-0, behind a complete game by freshman Jami Davis.  
    Davis allowed Bracken County six hits in seven innings surviving the first and third innings where the visitors had two or more base runners and failed to score.  
    Bracken County hurler Emma Conley was not a fortunate as her defense made a multitude of errors allowing four unearned runs to score along with the three that were earned.

  • Track teams find going rough at...

    The Harrison County Track Team participated in two meets in Lexington last week and came home with much work to do.  
    The meet at Bryan Station on Wednesday was a nine-team event with all of the Lexington public schools participating making for some outstanding competition.  
    The Fillies finished sixth behind the five Lexington schools though they easily defeated Paris, Nicholas County, Bourbon County and Sayre.  
    The hurdles and the relays were the Fillies strong suits on Wednesday.  

  • Tennis teams sweep Paris at home...

    The Harrison County tennis teams took care of business Wednesday as they handled the Paris High School tennis teams 5-0 for the Fillies and 3-2 for the Thorobreds.  
    The Fillies singles matches were contrasting in that Harrison County won the three matches that counted for the team score and lost the matches that did not count toward the overall team outcome.

  • Why did Tiger get to play after...

    Saturday the sports world woke up to yet another controversy concerning the best golfer in the world, Tiger Woods.  
    It seems, according to the droning on and on by ESPN radio, that Tiger took a drop after his ball struck the flag pole and went into the water and put the ball where he wasn’t supposed to gaining some imagined advantage.  
    All of this was not seen by the multitude of fans, onlookers, and officials standing right there in Augusta National, but by a television fan who texted or called or emailed it in to officials.  

  • Thorobreds romp past Paris, win...

    Eighth grader Nathan Fryman worked his way out of the first inning jitters and pitched a complete five inning romp over the Paris Greyhounds Wednesday on the Hilltop.  
    The Thorobreds scored six times in the first and nine more in the second to blow open the game, which ended as a 19-5 win for Harrison County.
