    HCHS Season Passes

    Season passes for students and adults continue to be on sale at Harrison County High School during regular school hours and are also available for purchase at the gate of each HCHS home sporting event.

    Adults

    1. All Sports Pass (good for admission to all home regular season events, excluding tournaments and special events approximately 50 home events) -- $125

    2. 14-game pass (good for any 14 varsity, freshman or junior varsity contests) -- $50

    Upward Flag Football and Cheer leading coming to Unity Christian

    Harrison County will have four active Upward Sports programs when Unity Christian Church debuts Upward Flag Football and Cheer leading next month.

    The program, for youth ages kindergarten through sixth grade, is designed to provide a sports program which is a fun, uplifting experience. Devotions are held at each game and during practices.

    Evaluations begin Aug. 12 and run through Aug. 22.

  • Fall sports underway on Hilltop

    The Harrison County High School Thorobreds football coaching staff was encouraged following Tuesday nights practice, especially coming on the heels of a few less-than-stellar workouts.

    I wasnt happy at all at how we had been practicing over the last week or so, said first-year Breds coach Aaron Stepp on Tuesday night. None of our older kids had really established themselves as good leaders for us, and I felt like we werent making much progress in a lot of areas. But Tuesday night, things started coming together a little better.

  • Football alumni banquet coming up

    Be prepared for some fine storytelling, exaggerated or not, when the Harrison County Football Alumni Association hosts its annual Hall of Fame Induction and Banquet at Harrison County High School cafeteria on Aug. 9.

    With more than 250 members, the HCFAA is undoubtedly the largest, most active and most productive sports support group in Harrison County.

  • Hilltop News - Elevated heat...

    On Tuesday, the Harrison County High School football team got some housekeeping business taken care of, but didnt take the field at all due to the combination of heat and humidity that raised the heat index above an acceptable level.

    With the heat-related deaths of several high school, collegiate and professional football and soccer players in the last few years, it has become a state mandate, and rightfully so, that every high school sports team, regardless of the season, must monitor and record the heat index.

  • Local girls capture Kick It 3v3...

    Kick it 3v3, the worlds largest 3v3 soccer event, held its state qualifier this weekend at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg, Ky.

    The Hot Shots, an Under-8 team from Cynthiana, won their pool and the single elimination tournament to qualify them for the regional tournament held in Clarksville, Tenn. They finished the tournament with a division best 4-0-1 record. The Hot Shots combined for a total of 22 goals scored.

    Football camp slated

    Harrison County High School football coach Aaron Stepp will conduct a three-day youth football camp on July 28-30 at Ingles Stadium. The camp will begin each day at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 11:30 a.m. and will be for children entering grades 1-6 for the 2008-09 school year. Cost for the camp will be $20 per child.   • Chasteen now permanent head of...

    As of Monday night, Rick Chasteen is no longer the interim recreation director for the Cynthiana/Harrison County Recreation Department. Instead, the 58-year-old local resident is now the full-time recreation director for the CHCRD.

    Chasteen was one of 19 applicants for the position that has been open since former director Kenny Copes resignation became effective on May 12.

  • COMMENTARY: Ticket prices...

    A little clarification is perhaps needed to explain the somewhat new and revamped athletic ticket policies at Harrison County High School.

    First, it is important to understand that our athletic department at HCHS is almost 100 percent self sufficient. Fortunately, we have had in the past, and continue to have now, a central office and board of education that is understanding of the importance of athletics to our community, our school and, most importantly, to our student athletes.

  • Ripken teams eliminated: All-...

    None of Harrison Countys four Cal Ripken teams won their respective state tournaments last week at different sites, but all four teams will be competing in a season-ending tournament at River Road Park in two weeks.

    The 11-year-old All Stars had the best finish among the local teams, taking runner-up honors over the weekend to South Lexington in the Kentucky East State Tournament at Frankfort.
